WEDDING/WEDDING/WEDDING/CHRISTMAS

Here we are soooo close to Christmas Day and the Wedding.

Molly will be flying in December 22. We are praying for good weather in NY, Chicago and Colorado Springs and then back on January 6th. All the flights through the south were all booked when I ordered the tickets in October. Molly is ready to have a break from USMMA and have some down time.

Emily and Giles will be down for Christmas Day. That day will be spent with the Hardcastle's our dearest Holiday Family. The Sweet Potato Souffle will be made and lots of good eats will be eatten.

On Dec. 26 we will all move to Emily's apartment to set up camp for the Wedding. The Hash's will celebrate their Christmas on Dec 27. So many of their family will be able to attend. One of Giles Uncle's will be performing the ceremony. They will be flying in from Poland! The 27th will be ALL WEDDING.....

Molly and I will be in Denver until the 30th or 31st. It will depend on the recovery time needed from the Wedding. This vacation will go by quickly as I return to work January 2nd. We lost an entire weekend (3 days) because of the day Christmas falls on. I doubt that many of the kids will bother to return for the 3rd or 4th.....but teachers will be there.

So begins a whirl-wind.......

Carols/Wash/Dishes/Stew/Phone/Hotmail and YOU

That pretty well sums up today. AHH Saturday--catch up day. The Carols do make it enjoyable. This has become the day where I get on Hotmail and do this. Can't do it at school anymore.

LESS THAN 30 DAYS UNTIL THE WEDDING!! Where has all the time gone since March 24?? Just a few things left to pick up, make and the day will be here. Emily and Giles alternate between talking about the day and their honeymoon in London. It was a good Thanksgiving. We had dinner with Giles family and met Gr'ma and Gr'pa Hash and Great Aunt Delores. It was delightful to hear that they are thankful for Emily. For who she is, her faith, and looking forward to may years ahead with her and her family. I know all this, but it is great that others see her as I see her and are loving her like I love her. (Insert BIG SMILE)

Molly is just wanting to come home again and be with 'FAMILY' (as she yells). She and 3 others went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in NYC. SHE WAS ON TV. They snuck into the grand stands and enjoyed the parade. They were in uniform so it was easy to pick out their white hats. If you go into youtube and look under the parade: Transylvania Broadway, at the very, very end of that clip they do a close up of the girls. Then the girls headed back for a home cooked Turkey Dinner and the rest of the weekend was busy with texting and phone calls. It said it wasn't the same as being home, but it worked. Cheyanne was there so they hung out the entire weekend. With her being at SEA the next 2 years, we will not have her at Thanksgiving or Christmas. She wanted to be at home during the summers when Emily and I are not in school.

I am trying to figure out what to do and how much decorating for the Holidays to do here at home. We will not be here from Dec 26-30 with the Wedding. No room for the tree this year....so the lights will go on the flat surfaces and the windows. Just get all the rest of the cherished things out.

The Holidays are changing once again...and yet the Christ of Christmas remains the same. I find myself stretching and stretching YET it is all as life should be. Emily will have her own home and perhaps I can get rid of a few things in the future......hope springs eternal. Molly will be traveling so much in the next years that I will be the friendly storeage unit. HA! Then there is my stuff....oh dear! I just keep thinking....if I died, what would the kids want to save......now there is a thought!!! It is TIME TO DOWN SIZE.

More to come......Don't forget in the hussel to slow down and enjoy your dear ones!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!!!

I am sooo fortunate to have the entire week off this week. YEY! I will be going to Denver on Wednesday and have dinner with Giles family. Hope to get a lot of the final plans for the Wedding done. On Thanksgiving we will all go to Grma & Grpa Hash's and meet them for the first time. Friday maybe some shopping after the crowds have gone crazy. I am NOT one that goes out on that Friday....too many people.

Molly had a great time going into NY City last week. Her girlfriends and her went skating at Rockefeller Center. Her roommate Jesse had never been ice skating before. They were holding tight to each other. (see picture) They stayed all night and headed back to USMMA on Monday. They had Monday off for Vets day.

I was able to attend the Parents Club USMMA meeting. It was good to see/meet/talk with so many parents. I was especially interested to hear about the Midshipman who had just left for their Sea duty and the ones that returned. What adventures! I am disappointed that we will not be able to attend the All Service Winter Ball at the Broadmoor Hotel at Winter Break. It just so happens that it is on the evening of Emily's Wedding--December 28th. The next 2 years, Molly will be at Sea during December so I will get to attend with Emily/Giles in her place. It involves all Cadets from all the Academys from the State of Colorado -- Coast Guard, Air Force, West Point, Navy, and Merchant Marine. Quite a night! Dinner, dancing....at the famous Broadmoor.
Just something to look forward too.

Ah! Everyday is Thanksgiving!! Blessings!

MOLLY WAS HOME!

AHHHHH YES! Molly flew home for Trimester Break on Sat. Oct. 27. We had a great week....

Sunday we went to church so that everyone could see her and then headed to Denver. We spent the rest of Sunday visiting Emily and Giles. Molly and I stayed over night since Emily had a 'work day' getting ready for Parent Conferences on Monday. It was great to see her school, meet her team mates and Principal and play with her computerize 'Smart Board'. That is my dream....to have a Smart Board. It was fascinating.....

The rest of the week was spent together. We wished that Emily could have been with us all that time. Everytime I asked Molly what she wanted to do, she answered, 'Just be with you.' So that is what we did. She was able to go to the High School and see her favorite 1SG Bogan. She spoke to the JROTC about USMMA. She looks so smart in her 'dress blues'. She flew out yesterday back to NY to start the 2nd Trimester. She will spend Thanksgiving either at USMMA or in Maryland with a classmate. Then home in December for the Holiday and the wedding.

Check Spelling
Emily will be down on Thursday....her faculty will be attending a Core Curriculm Conference here in Co. Springs. She is staying with me and driving to the Hotel. YEY! Thanksgiving week I have off and that will be just around the corner....Fall always goes by sooo much faster than January/March and April/May drags on forever. We need to have more holidays from January to May!!!

Conferences/New York/ Military Pagentry

The 1st Quarter of the school year has come and gone. I had Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences this week. Saw more of the kiddos that I really needed to. I was blunt about what each kid needed to improve and work on. Monday starts a clean slate for many and I will be writing more e-mails as parents DO want their kid to be successful. The educating of our future continues........

More of my trip to NY.......Friday night I attended a unique Band Concert. The USSMA has a full time student Band Company. LIVE MUSIC! Out of 90 students, 40 were new to the program in July. WOW! This was NOT the typical Concert Band program......the entire 2 1/2 hours of music was played and MARCHED out for the audience. It was held on the Basketball court instead of the football field and it was fascinating to see them weaving in and out, up and down the floor. Their guests were the Nassau County Police Bagpipe Corps. They played by themselves and then with the Band. It was EXCEPTIONAL!

Saturday it started out sprinkling rain but cleared up as the Acceptance Day Parade began. The upper classmen/women marched on to the field along with the Command student leaders. The 4th classmen/women (freshman) marched onto the track. They (Molly) were sworn into the Merchant Marine Reserves and then into the US Navy Reserves. Then they marched onto the field inbetween the rows of upper classmen/women to show the intergrations into the Corps. I LOVE the pagentry. After the parade the cadets assembled on the Grinder and recieved their US Navy Reserve Eagle pin. Molly chose me to pin it on her uniform. (See the picture??) Of course, I cried. It is another step in her career goals. She has persevered, when she was so discouraged, and had Faith that God knew her path and was directing her steps. God has been certainly FAITHFUL in having her in the right place, at the right time. He will continue to honor her as she honors Him.

Shell Fish, Eels and Septic Tanks

So more about the USMMA trip..... I had decided sitting in the Colorado Springs Airport that if this trip did not go well.......I was NOT going back to NY until she graduated in 2011. I did realize sitting in the hotel room that night the reason I was sooo scared was that I was not in control. Ahh, my old obsessive nature! So, each time I ordered a Taxi they were there--prompt and courteous and within 10-15 minutes of calling them. Door to door service and so I will be going back to Parents Weekend next year. I am all ready on a budget (my raise for this year), but I was able to live on last year's salary so I shouldn't miss it. Right???? It is expensive in NY...right at $200 just for the Taxi's.

Thursday, Sept. 13 I was at Formation bright and early...7:40 AM! Then the rest of the morning was spent in classes. English and the reading of Othelo....reminders about the big research paper due in the future. Then on to Fire and Emergencies where I learned and held nozzels of Fire hoses and how they work. Heavy Brass. He is a professional on ships so he told stories of what really happens during fires. Also, he dropped a 'D' ring...it is shaped like a 'D' and makes a real racket when dropped on the floor to wake up sleeping Cadets. (There were 2.) This happens quite often during the 1 hour class, sometimes. Then on to KP100. This was a class devided into 2 parts to help the Cadets decide what their Major will be. We reviewed the Disel-Tubine Engines on ships. It was really interesting. This teacher is a graduate of USMMA and has served all over the world in ships as an Engineer. He is trying to talk Molly into switching from Deck/Shopper to an Engineer. After talking about cleaning out the engines of shell fish, eels (alive or dead) and anything else that the engines sift from the ocean water......it is not going to happen!! Then this week he share the story of working on a Cruise ship and cleaning out the septic tanks.....NOT!
More stories later...

This coming week is the last week of our 1st Quarter at school. The year marches on. There is only 13 weeks left before Emily/Giles Wedding day....oh and Christmas too. How is the Christmas shopping coming????? LOL

Blessings.....

TIME FLYS

OK where did the rest of September go??? October 2nd and I was called for Jury Duty today. I was out by 10:45 am and free for the rest of the day. I did not get 'choosen' so I ate my lunch under a tree in the beautiful sunshine, reading a book and looking at Pikes Peak. There was just a dusting of snow in the crags of the mountain and a few of the trees are turning yellow. I do miss the hard woods of the midwest that provide the reds and rusts, BUT could NEVER give up the mountains again.

I promised some news of Molly after I went to NY to see her....here is some. A Whale of a Tale -- On Friday, Sept. 22, the girls team was rowing (Crew Team) on the NY Sound and all of a sudden a 3-5 foot wave of water was coming at them. They were at the correct angle NOT to be capsized into the Sound; however the coach was about engulfed in water in her boat. When asked "What the @!^& was that???", the coach said several times it has been either a whale or a submarine!! How's that for an adventure?? The rest of the early (4:25 AM) mornings practice was 'normal'. She competed with her 4 women team this last Sunday, Sept. 30 and they came in 4th......just 5 seconds behind the 3rd place. It was a 3 1/2 mile course. I would like to see one someday...even a video would be great! They are ready to get that extra 5 seconds made up for this next weeks competition.

I have been prevented from getting on Hotmail and also my blog spot through our school districts computer. So, now I have to do this from my home computer. I have been watching the Ken Burn's documentary: The War on PBS this week and last. It is the accounting of WWII. It is facinating to hear the testimonies of the men and women from the No. African, European and Pacific fronts and hear about the TOTAL support of the Americans on the homefront. It so speaks to me: SUPPORT OUR TROOPS NOW!!! The Bible says 'there will be wars and rumors of war until the return of Christ'.....so let's support the TROOPS and GET RID OF THE POLITICS and $$$$-making companies that prey on our troops. That is my strong opinion.

More tales of my visit to NY later..... Take a look at the picture: Molly was sworn into the US Navy Reserves and the Merchant Marine Reserves and is now an 'offical' Plebe. Notice the Navy wings on her left.

Blessings and Prayers for our TROOPS around the world serving God and our Country.
